The Care Together Program assisted successful projects in developing sustainable business models and service delivery plans in areas where current approaches are not working, focusing on regional, rural and remote parts of Australia. Social care may include aged care, disability support, veterans’ care, Indigenous care, allied health and primary health care.

Regional roadshows

The Care Together Program team deliver location-specific co-op development and training via in-person workshops and meetings throughout Australia, meeting with organisations and groups.

The Program supported the local community to consider whether there was scope to form a co-operative and take the next step to submit an expression of interest for their project to be supported by the Care Together Program.

Introducing Co-operative Care workshop

The Introducing Co-operative Care workshop was delivered as a half-day, face-to-face session for NDIS, aged care and disability workers interested in alternative models of care delivery through co-operative and mutual enterprises.

The workshop provided participants with opportunities to:

  • build understanding of the Care Together Program and how communities could engage with it
  • learn about the co-operative and mutual business model, its history and how it operates in practice
  • explore existing co-operatives delivering social care, aged care and disability support
  • hear from examples of co-operatives and mutuals successfully delivering care in Australia
