Update
The Care Together program has ensured that what has been built through the program continues to support communities long into the future.
Over the past two years, we have worked alongside the Business Council of Co-operatives and Mutuals (BCCM), communities, practitioners and partners to develop a suite of practical resources that address real challenges on the ground – from starting a co-operative to raising capital to communicating your vision.
Whether you are exploring the co-operative model, strengthening an existing organisation or planning for growth, these tools provide clear, practical guidance grounded in real-world experience. Below, you can explore some of the key resources now available.

The Care Co-op Toolkit is a practical resource for communities, workers and organisations interested in establishing and growing care co-operatives in Australia.
Developed through the Care Together program, it provides clear guidance across every stage of the journey – from early planning and feasibility through to establishment, operation and long-term growth.
The toolkit explains how co-operatives work, outlines core principles and includes real-world examples, regulatory guidance and practical tools to support implementation.
Whether used as a step-by-step guide or a reference resource, it is designed to support co-operatives at every stage.
Originally developed and updated by the BCCM, the Community investment for Australian co-operatives: A handbook, outlines how co-operatives can raise funds within Australia’s regulatory framework while keeping ownership and benefits within the community.
It is designed for both communities and practitioners looking to fund new or growing co-operative initiatives.
Developed and updated by the BCCM, A co-op guide to marketing membership and investment offers provides a practical framework to help co-operatives plan, develop and deliver effective membership and investment offers.
It includes step-by-step guidance, case studies and a companion workbook to support implementation.
Developed through the Care Together program by the BCCM in partnership with SGS Economics & Planning, this interactive map helps users discover care co-operatives and mutuals across Australia.
Search by service type or explore Care Together participants to see how community-owned care is being delivered locally.
