From our Program Director: Building momentum, growing our impact

As we move into the final quarter of the Care Together program, we’re seeing growing recognition of the transformative potential of community-owned care. This past month has brought national and international interest in our work, with strong media coverage, academic engagement and exciting milestones reached in Wagin, Murrumbidgee and beyond.

We were proud to see Care Together showcased at the University of Indonesia, and to see our co-operative care model highlighted in the media following the Federal Budget announcement. On the ground, the community of Wagin continues to lead the way with local support and new infrastructure plans now funded by the CBH Grass Roots Grants program and Juniper.

And behind the scenes, three more Care Together projects will be holding their formation meetings soon: Glen Innes, Murrumbidgee and Eurobodalla. We look forward to announcing our second, third and fourth registered co-operatives in the coming weeks.

Thank you for being part of this journey – together, we’re reshaping care across Australia.

Gillian McFee
Program Director, Care Together

Co-operative Care Wagin has received a CBH Grass Roots Community Grant to help establish a local shopfront to support residents with navigating aged care services and provide a welcoming hub for social connection. Wendy Pederick, Chair of CCW, says the grant “brings our vision to life” for a locally led care solution. Read more about this exciting development in Wagin.

Associate Professor Paul Thambar (Monash Business School) shared insights on Care Together’s work with students and staff at the University of Indonesia in March. He outlined how the Mutual Value Measurement (MVM) Framework© is helping communities shape purpose-driven co-operatives – and how academic research is supporting on-the-ground innovation in care. Learn more about our research partnership with Monash Business School.

Following the recent Federal Budget, Care Together was featured in national media coverage exploring funding and the future of care.
