We congratulate Peter Hunt on being recognised in HM The King’s New Year Honours List with an MBE, acknowledging his outstanding contribution to parliamentary and policy work advancing co-operatives and mutuals.
Peter has been instrumental in supporting the Care Together program, particularly through the implementation of Mutual Value Framework within newly formed Care Together co-operatives. His work has helped embed co-operative purpose, accountability and long-term sustainability into the governance and operating models of community-led care organisations.
Responding to the honour, Melina Morrison, CEO of the Business Council of Co-operatives and Mutuals, said:
“We are beyond thrilled to see this honour bestowed Peter Hunt. It is richly deserved not only for your pioneering work in the UK but further afield in the Commonwealth. Australia’s co-operative and mutual sector is safer, more sustainable, more recognised and more able to grow because of your contribution and groundbreaking legislative reforms that you led here in Australia. You’re one of a kind, Peter, and we are very lucky you’ve dedicated your life’s work to co-ops and mutuals.”
