BCCM notice of Supporting Rules concerning co-ops in new Aged Care Act commence 1 November
Job advert
The new Aged Care Act and supporting rules commence on 1 November 2025.
This will include specific rules for co-operatives, advocated for by the BCCM over a number of years.
Co-operatives that meet certain criteria will not have to have a majority independent non-executive board of directors. This will allow, for example, worker co-ops operating in aged care to continue to have majority worker-members on their boards.
The BCCM is preparing guidance materials to assist co-ops to navigate the new rules, which we will share with you soon. In the meantime, please reach out to us if you have any queries about the new rules and the co-op provisions and how they may apply to your co-op.Â
In co-operation,
Melina Morrison Chief Executive Officer
